Shelby Septet will perform "Midtown Sunset" at the Davies
Symphony Hall (Rehearsal Room) for San Francisco Performances. This
will be a special Teacher s Workshop. To attend please contact Melanie
Smith at San Francisco Performances.
Marcus Shelby composed "Midtown Sunset" in 1993 for quintet
and actor. This composition pays homage to Harlem Renaissance painter
Romare Bearden and writer Langston Hughes. In 2004 Shelby re-orchestrated
"Midtown Sunset" for jazz orchestra for a presentation for
San Francisco Performances at the SFMOMA Museum. For more information

January 19; In 2004, Marcus Shelby composed the film score for "Maladaptive",
an Independent film directed by Adam Chin. MSJO as an orchestra
and also in various small groups. "Maladaptive" Will be
screened on January 19, 2006 at the Dolby Labs in San Francisco,
